My Story

SueWith all the stress in our lives today, it's often difficult to take the time to relax.

At the end of the day, what better way to wind down than by reading a good book or watching T.V. while wrapped up in a cozy homemade quilt?

It reminds me of how my mother used to hug me.

My favorite quilts are the ones with traditional designs.

I can remember sitting under the quilt frame at my grandmother's house as a child. The stitches sewn with it were fascinating. Now, that frame has a special place in my home. I feel my grandmother's presence with every treasure I create.

I was nervous about getting a bed quilt made that was too feminine, but Gale worked with me, and the results were terrific! I've had several people comment on the quilt's neat nautical design.

We had Gale make a special Billy & Sue quilt for our little jack-russel, and she just loves it! Of course, our guests like it too, and they comment often.

The hot pads Gale makes are also great. The new light material she uses is nice because I can feel what's under them without getting burned.

Timeframe

The time to complete a project depends on my workload and the complexity of the quilt. I will work with you to try to meet your need.

Special Orders

Special orders are welcome! If you have something in mind that does not appear here, I encourage you to call me with your thoughts.

I believe no quilt should be left unquilted and no idea untapped.

Here are some of the types of quilting projects I have completed in the past:

  • Family Banners
  • Wall Hangings
  • Lap Quilts
  • Baby Quilts
  • Bed and Specialty Quilts
  • Bandana Quilts
  • Quilting of old and new Quilt Tops

I work with the customer to determine color, style and type of fabric, as well as size, design, and stitch pattern. However, it is often easiest if the customer has a template in mind (look at my portfolio for some ideas) or the setting in which the quilt will fit.

The more I know about what you want, the better your quilt will turn out.

Special Notes

  • People often ask me how to care for their quilts. Please, never store quilts in plastic, and avoid their direct contact with glass, otherwise they will disintegrate over time. When framing quilts, insert a spacer between the fabric and glass.

Capabilities

  • I sew my quilts by hand and by machine. My state-of-the-art sewing machine simplifies the basic creation of squares with cookie-cutter style patterns, and allows me to speed through their basic assembly. However, I still resort to close needlework and inspection when patterns are customized or near the end of the quilting project.
